1) Original clearance

The original clearance of an SKF bearing refers to the clearance in a free state after the bearing is assembled and before it is installed on the machine. In fact, it is difficult to know the original clearance without measurement. Therefore, the original clearance is often replaced by the inspection clearance.

The inspection clearance is the clearance data obtained by the instrument under the condition of applying the measuring load in the inspection state. Strictly speaking, it is not the same as the original clearance of the bearing, but in general, the readings of the two are different. Not big, so they can replace each other without much error.

2) Effective clearance

Effective clearance or working clearance refers to the actual clearance existing in SKF bearings under a certain load and a certain temperature rise after the bearing is installed on the main engine. Obviously, the effective clearance is smaller than the working clearance.

Bearing maintenance: SKF bearing cleaning: When disassembling the bearing for maintenance, first record the appearance of the bearing, confirm the residual amount of lubricant, and after sampling the lubricant for inspection, wash the bearing. As a cleaning agent, gasoline and kerosene are commonly used. The dismantled bearing is cleaned, divided into rough cleaning and fine cleaning.
