Lubrication plays an important role in the use of mechanical ball bearing. In many cases, bearing damage is caused by poor lubrication. According to statistics, about 40% of bearing damage is related to poor lubrication. In order to allow the bearings to get a good lubrication method, according to the analysis of the situation, it is concluded that there are 11 kinds of bearing lubrication methods.

Bearing lubrication 11 ways:

1. Manual lubrication
This is the most primitive method. When the lubricating oil of the bearing is insufficient, the oiler is used to supply oil. However, this method is difficult to maintain a certain amount of oil, and there is a greater risk of forgetting to refuel due to negligence. It is usually only used in light-load, low-speed or intermittent motion occasions. It is best to set a dust cover or ball valve on the refueling hole when operating. And use felt, cotton, wool, etc. as filter device.

2. Drop-point lubrication
It is usually used for light-load and medium-load bearings with a peripheral speed of less than 4-5m/s. A roughly quantitative amount of lubricating oil is supplied from the container through holes, needles, valves, etc. The most classic is the dripping oil cup. Oil viscosity, bearing clearance and oil supply hole location vary significantly.

3. Oil ring lubrication
The lubricating oil of the oil pool is brought into the bearing by the ring that is hung on the shaft and can rotate (only for the lubrication method of the horizontal shaft). It is suitable for medium-speed and high-speed bearings with a shaft diameter greater than 50mm. The oil ring is preferably Seamless, when the bearing width-diameter ratio is less than 2, only one oil ring can be used, otherwise two oil rings are required.

4. Oil rope lubrication
Relying on the capillary and siphon action of the oil rope to guide the lubricating oil in the oil cup into the bearing, it is mainly used for light and medium load bearings with a peripheral speed of less than 4 ~ 5m/s. In addition, the oil rope can filter the whole process. effect.

5. Oil pad lubrication
Using the capillary action of the oil pad, the lubricating oil in the oil pool is applied to the surface of the shaft diameter. This method can keep the friction surface clean, but the dust will also block the capillary holes and cause insufficient oil supply. The oil supply of oil pad lubrication is usually only 1/20 of that of oil lubrication.

6. Oil bath lubrication
This lubrication method is to immerse a part of the bearing in lubricating oil, which is often used for the thrust bearing of the vertical shaft, and is not suitable for the radial bearing of the horizontal shaft.

7. Splash lubrication
The lubricating oil splashed by the slap of the rotating parts in the oil tank is supplied to the bearing, which is suitable for the bearing of higher speed.

8. Oil mist lubrication
The dry compressed air is mixed with lubricating oil through a sprayer to form oil mist, which is sprayed into the imported motor bearing. The airflow can effectively cool the bearing and prevent the intrusion of impurities. This method is suitable for the lubrication of high-speed, high-temperature bearing parts.

9. Pressure oil supply lubrication
The oil is supplied to the bearing by the pressure of the lubricating pump, and the lubricating oil flowing from the bearing is recovered to the oil pool for recycling.

10. Circulating oil lubrication
The filtered oil is transported to the bearing parts by the oil pump, and the lubricating oil after passing through the bearing is filtered and cooled before use. Because the circulating oil can take away a certain amount of heat and cool the bearing, this method is suitable for bearing parts with high rotation speed.

The high-pressure oil is injected into the bearing through the nozzle by the oil pump, and the oil injected into the stainless steel bearing flows into the oil tank through the other end of the bearing. When the bearing rotates at a high speed, the rolling elements and the cage also make the surrounding air flow at a relatively high rotation speed. It is difficult to send the lubricating oil to the bearing by the general lubrication method. At this time, the lubricating oil must be sprayed with high pressure spraying method. Into the bearing, the position of the nozzle must be between the inner ring and the center of the cage.

Bearing damage caused by poor lubrication is also a common situation. Here we mainly analyze the different levels of bearing damage caused by poor lubrication, so that everyone can adopt a reasonable solution according to the situation.

Bearing damage caused by insufficient lubrication can be divided into the following four levels:

Primary damage - thermal discoloration

Secondary damage - Scratching and peeling

Level 3 damage - thermal damage due to overheating of the roller ends

Grade 4 damage - the entire bearing is locked

How to ensure proper lubrication? Correct lubrication and regular maintenance can avoid bearing damage caused by lubrication problems. To ensure reasonable lubrication, it should do:

1. Follow the usage guidelines set by the device manufacturer for each device;

2. When adding grease, it should be filled between the rolling parts of the bearing and the housing (or retaining ring) to ensure that a sufficient amount of grease enters and the key raceway surfaces are fully lubricated;

3. Pay attention to when the bearing should be greased;

4. Monitor the equipment's indicating gauges for early detection of signs of problems, such as temperature fluctuations and/or unusually high temperatures;

5. Pay attention to equipment noise or abnormal vibration;

6. Observe the leakage of lubricating oil;

7. Regularly sample the lubricating oil and check whether it is contaminated.
