Three common maintenance techniques for SKF rolling mill bearing fatigue failure

SKF bearing fatigue failure is a form of failure surface, mainly manifested in the initiation, propagation and fracture process of fatigue cracks, and the long-term effects of load failures produced by the alternate metal. The sealed rolling mill bearings are lubricated with specially tested high-quality lithium grease. This grease can withstand a high temperature of 120 degrees for a short time. If the stable operating temperature reaches 70 degrees or higher, the life of standard lithium grease will be shortened.

To work frequently at high temperatures, special grease must be used, and attention must be paid to whether heat-resistant materials are required as the sealing device. The operating temperature of the standard contact seal cannot exceed 110 degrees.

The load bearing capacity of the bearing is much smaller than that of the rolling mill bearing of the same volume. Therefore, the radial dimension of the rolling bearing is larger. Therefore, SKF bearings are often used in occasions with large loads and occasions that require small radial dimensions and compact structures (such as internal combustion engine crankshaft bearings).

Bearings are particularly sensitive to foreign matter such as metal shavings. Once foreign matter is mixed in, it will produce intermittent and relatively large vibration and noise, which may easily lead to damage. Therefore, the life of the rolling bearing also has a certain limit. In short, the life of similar bearings is shorter than that of SKF bearings.

High temperatures often indicate abnormal conditions. High temperature is also harmful to the lubricant of the bearing. Sometimes bearing overheating can be attributed to the lubricant of the bearing. Long-term continuous rotation of the bearing at a temperature exceeding 125°C will reduce the life of the rolling mill bearing. Causes of high temperature bearings include: insufficient or excessive lubrication, lubricants. Containing impurities, excessive load, bearing ring damage, insufficient clearance, and high friction caused by oil seals, etc.

There are usually three types of SKF bearing maintenance:

1. Failure maintenance: When the bearing fails, stop for inspection and maintenance.

2. Regular maintenance: In order to ensure the normal operation of the main engine, according to the requirements of the main engine and the design theory and use experience of the bearing, a maintenance period is set and regular maintenance is performed.

3. Early warning and maintenance: Using advanced bearing fault diagnosis technology, real-time monitoring of the use status of rolling mill bearings, and forecasting and repairing before bearing failure.

During the operation of SKF bearings, sound, temperature and vibration are bound to appear. Therefore, for the maintenance of the bearing in operation, the abnormal changes of the bearing can be found by listening, touching, observing, and using the bearing fault diagnosis instrument, and judging whether the rolling mill bearing is in a normal working state according to the changed state.
